It was a star-studded affair as gospel’s brightest headed to the 29th annual Stellar Awards at the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.
Full of awesome performances, anointed praise, upbeat moments and emotional wins, the evening had one clear star: gospel singer and actress Tamela Mann.
It was a ministry-defining evening for the vocalist who got her start with Kirk Franklin & The Family. She was named artist of the year and was the biggest winner of the night with an astonishing seven awards, including female vocalist and CD of the year.
When she made her acceptance speech, Mann shouted "Hallelujah! Thank you, Jesus."
Overjoyed, she cried and expressed her heartfelt gratitude to God.
"I just love everybody," she said. "And I don't mind getting ugly for the Lord. This is for the Lord."
It was also a special evening for Atlanta breakout recording Tasha Cobbs, who won new artist of the year and stirred the crowd with a powerful rendition of Break Every Chain that had everyone standing and applauding.
