A night out with friends turned into a nightmare for a Texas16-year-old who says her rape went viral online. Now she’s speaking out.
According to Jada, she was invited to the home of a friend of a friend, drugged without her knowledge and sexually assaulted. After her photo was posted on the Internet, she felt violated all over again.
In an interview with KHOU 11 News, she said, “There's no point in hiding. Everybody has already seen my face and my body, but that’s not what I am and who I am.”
On Twitter, there are photos of her lying unconscious on a bed, fully clothed. Then there are images of her passed out on the floor naked from the waist down.
Sadly, after the photograph went viral, individuals on Twitter mocked it and recreated her position with the hashtag “#jadapose.”
“I had no control,” said Jada. "I didn’t tell anyone to take my clothes off and do what they did to me.”
She found out what had been done on Twitter after seeing the photos three weeks later.
Even with the public nature of the situation, thus far, no arrests have been made—something that has outraged community activist Quanell X, reports the Houston Chronicle.
What took place here is a criminal act," he said, standing in front of the house where everything occurred. "I want to see law enforcement treat this case with the type of sensitivity and priority that it deserves."
Jada is hoping her attackers will be brought to justice.
In the meantime, online support is growing for Jada as more people find out about the story.
