If you haven’t been following the story of the 16-year-old Houston girl, Jada, whose sexual assault went viral on social media as previously reported by WUFO, you should.
After attending a friend’s party, a teenage boy spiked her drink, sexually assaulted her, photographed it and put pictures of her exposed body online that went viral.
“I woke up without any memory of what happened,” Jada told MSNBC’s Roland Farrow. “After that, I went home and realized that my underwear was on backwards, and I called and asked ‘what happened,’ and I had a bruise under my eye.”
What happened was more horrific than she could have imagined.
Jada, who has chosen not to release her last name, had been victimized without her knowledge. She only discovered the horror of what went on after a friend took a photo of the explicit image online and texted it to her.
She proceeded to tell her mother who filed a police report.
Though, initially, re-tweeters were mocking Jada and making light of the sad and disturbing incident, as the story gains more exposure, she is gaining the support of millions.
Even Hollywood actress Jada Pinkett Smith has supported the assaulted young girl. On her official Facebook page, the star who shares the victim’s name, wrote “This could be you, me, or any woman or girl that we know. What do we plan to do about this ugly epidemic?” and added the hash tag “#justiceforjada.”
Social media has been standing in solidarity with the victim with the hash tag #IAmJada.
